The 2011 Annual Mini-Gala was a great success! Thanks to the generosity of artists who donated mini-canvasses, and those who bid on them, the Gallery raised close to $9,000. Judi Gedye was the very happy winner of the raffle draw for an original painting by Georgina Farah. Michael Epp, as winner of the Artist Guessing Game, was also very pleased and surprised when he was awarded a beautiful vase created by Catherine Epps.

All money raised will help pay operational costs of running the community exhibit space.

The Mini-Gala is a great party and fundraiser, but of course it could not happen without our sponsors and the amazing efforts of a very talented team. We acknowledge the support of: David & Aubin van Berckel and Opus Painting & Art Supplies, Martha Perkins and the Bowen Island Undercurrent, Georgina Farah, Catherine Epps, Phoenix on Bowen, Tracey Lee Hearst, Basia Lieske, Out of the Blue, the Montessori School and Scott Witty at the Bowen Neighbourhood Pub. A resounding round of applause also goes to the Gala/Gallery Committee including Kim Kasasian, curator and Andrea Little, Pat Adams, Ann Ramsay, Karen Watson, Magi Amma, Diane Buchanan, Betty Dhont, Greta Smith, Jilly Watson, Melissa Crenshaw and Marg Witty.

Art, music, a very merry evening -- it's time once again for the Gala, the annual fundraiser for the Gallery @ Artisan Square. The date is Saturday 12 March, starting at 7 p.m. This event sells out quickly, so do not delay, get your tickets in advance so you will not be disappointed. The cost is only $15, which includes a glass of fine wine.

The Gallery will be adorned with mini canvasses featuring an impressive array of art, courtesy of 60 of our very talented local artists. Marc Gawthrop will be tickling the ivories with his always pleasing repertoire. The hilarious David Cameron will be our auctioneer for the evening, also keeping us entertained as we vie for that special piece of art to call our own. And like all good parties, a fabulous selection of treats will be available for munching.

The starting price of each original painting is just $125, and work can be viewed from noon 4 p.m. on March 11 and 12. A special feature of this year's Gala is the opportunity to bid on a mini-portrait, to be painted by Paul Deggan.

Sanctify by Georgina Farah
We'll also be raffling an original painting, generously donated by Georgina Farah. Georgina is one of Bowen's outstanding young artists whose success and reputation is growing fast both on Bowen and in Vancouver. View this beautiful, ethereal work on display at the Gallery. Raffle tickets are priced at $5 for one, or $20 for five.

Purchase a Gala ticket at the Gallery during opening hours Friday to Sunday, from noon 4 p.m. Or reserve by emailing , or calling the Gallery at 604.947.2454. Please indicate your name, number of tickets desired and phone number. Reserved tickets must be paid for and picked up no later than Sunday, March 6. After that date, they will be released for public purchase. Tickets are also available at Phoenix.

We thank Opus Framing and Art Supplies for their ongoing support of this annual event.
